Individual Counseling
People seek individual counseling for many reasons. They might need help navigating a crisis or developing healthier, more sustainable ways to manage stress.
When you feel unmoored, unmotivated, or overwhelmed, speaking with a counselor can help. Individual therapy provides you with time and space to talk openly, reflect on your experiences, and explore what is shaping your thoughts and behaviors.
At Impact Counseling & Guidance Center, we provide a supportive environment where clients can feel safe and supported as they work through their challenges.

What Is Individual Counseling?
Individual therapy is a one-on-one counseling process. During a session, you speak privately with a licensed mental health professional about what is on your mind or what you need assistance with.
Individual counseling is meant to help you improve your quality of life. Through it, you learn to identify harmful patterns and develop tools that allow you to manage challenges in a healthier way.

Our Approach to Individual Counseling
Because everyone’s starting point is different, the process is unique for everyone. At Impact Counseling, we tailor therapy to the unique needs and comfort levels of our clients. Your counselor may recommend integrating multiple treatment modalities to better support your mental, emotional, and spiritual health.
Our team is trained in several therapeutic models, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and Christian counseling. The latter integrates traditional talk therapy with Christian beliefs for clients who wish to include faith in their counseling experience.
We welcome clients from all religious backgrounds and respect individual beliefs.
Adult Counseling
Adult life comes with responsibilities that can feel difficult to manage, especially during periods of change or stress. Work demands, relationships, parenting, health concerns, or unexpected events can leave you feeling stretched thin or unsure how to move forward.
In adult therapy, you work one-on-one with a counselor to talk through what you’re experiencing and how it’s affecting your daily life. Your counselor helps you build tools and mindsets that allow you to respond to challenges in ways that feel more manageable and aligned with your goals.
Child Therapy
Children often experience intense emotions without having the words to explain what they’re feeling. Child therapy uses developmentally appropriate approaches, including play therapy, to help children express thoughts and feelings in a way that feels natural to them.
Our counselors work with children to build emotional awareness and coping skills in a safe and consistent setting. Child therapy can help with behavioral concerns, anxiety, grief, trauma, or difficulty adjusting to changes at home or school.
Teen Counseling
Growing up involves constant change, and many teens feel pressure from various sources, from school and social relationships to family life. These experiences can feel overwhelming, especially when teens struggle to explain what’s wrong.
Teen therapy provides a private space where adolescents can talk openly with a counselor who listens without judgment. Sessions are focused on helping teens understand their emotions, develop coping skills, and improve communication while respecting their need for trust and autonomy.

What Is Individual Counseling Helpful For?
While therapy is helpful when dealing with major crises, many people seek support for the less visible challenges that impact their daily lives.
For instance, some clients are managing a diagnosed condition, like anxiety or depression. Others need help coming to terms with a life change or simply feel that their current coping strategies aren’t working as well as they once did.
